The treatment steps are as follows: the first step is to prepare the teeth by applying a gel to the surface of the teeth. A light is then directed towards the mouth exposing the gel's active ingredient, Hydrogen Peroxide, to the light. The Hydrogen Peroxide is broken down which results in the oxygen entering the enamel and the dentin, ultimately bleaching the colored substances without affecting the structure of the tooth.
Both research and clinical studies indicate that whitening teeth with the Zoom! Whitening procedure is safe and effective. It is recommended to follow the treatment with proper dental hygiene – flossing and regular brushing - and occasional touch-ups, as over time, exposure to certain foods and liquids, naturally, may reduce whiteness. Zoom! Whitening is not recommended for children under thirteen years of age, or pregnant or lactating women.
