Post Operative Instructions:
Filling care instructions![]()
It is normal to experience some hot, cold and pressure sensitivity
after your appointment and
your gums may be sore for several days. You may chew right away on new
white fillings, since
they set completely on the day of your appointment. Learn more filling care instructions here.
If anesthesia was used during your appointment, read the post operative instructions for your fillings.
Cosmetic Reconstruction Care Instructions![]()
It is normal to experience some hot, cold and pressure sensitivity.
Your mouth just needs time
to adjust to the removal of original tooth structure and the placement
of new materials.
Your gums may also be sore for several days. If pain and swelling persist,
you can rinse with warm salt
water (a teaspoon of salt in a cup of warm water, swish in the mouth
and then spit it out) up to
three times a day. The most important thing to do is to address any
pain you might feel and
allow your body time to adapt to the changes.
Mild pain medication can be taken if there is any discomfort during the
healing process. To learn more, read our care instructions for cosmetic reconstruction.
Extraction Care Instructions![]()
Because a tooth extraction is a surgical procedure, it is important to
allow your body time to
heal itself. The day of the extraction, you should consume lots of
fluids and only eat soft foods
so as to not disrupt the extraction area. The day following the
extraction, or as soon as it is
comfortable, you can go back to normal eating habits.
The swelling usually begins to subside after 48 hours. Read our complete tooth extraction care instructions here.
Root Canal Care Instructions![]()
It is normal to experience some pain following a root canal procedure,
especially while chewing.
This pain, should subside within 48 hours or so depending on the
precautions taken during
recovery. It is also important to keep in mind that because anesthesia
was used during the
procedure, it will take a little while for the numbness to wear off.
Take extreme caution while
chewing after the procedure to avoid any injuries to your cheek, lip or
tongue.
Pain medication can be taken as directed to relieve any discomfort. Learn more by reading our care instructions for root canals.
New Denture Care Instructions![]()
Adapting to new dentures requires a period of adjustment. One of the
first things you might
notice is the change in your speech due to the introduction of the new
prostheses. This is normal,
however, and your tongue and lips will adapt to the change and proper
speech will develop
within a few weeks.
